So much to see and do

Shelley Point is a haven for seabirds, whales and dolphins, where the loudest sound is likely to be the sound of the waves loping to shore. While there’s nothing like a dose of sea air to recharge and revitalise, the region offers easy access to various activities and eateries.
  • Wade the calm, shallow waters of Shell Bay beach
  • Pull on a wetsuit and take to the waves at some favourite surfer spots known as ‘heaven’ and ‘hell’
  • Cast off and do some sea fishing while watching the ships go by
  • Take a swing at the on site 9-hole golf course
  • Buy some ‘snoek’, a fish caught in the cold waters of the Western Cape, straight off the boats in the harbour in winter
  • Book a massage at the golf estate Wellness Centre
  • Take a slow walk on the beach, at sunrise or sunset in particular to appreciate the incredible natural light reflecting off the ocean
  • Visit the coffee shop at the Country Club within easy walking distance of the Oystercatcher Lodge
  • See the seasonal explosion of wild flower colour from July to September
  • Discover the ancient fossils of extinct creatures such as sabre-tooth cats and short-necked giraffes at the nearby Fossil Park
  • Grab your binoculars and head to Rocherpan Nature Reserve to hide out in well positioned hides to spot some of the 183 species of birds including South Africa’s second rarest coastal bird, the African Black Oystercatcher
  • See whales, dolphins, seals and migratory birdlife while having breakfast or from the comfort of your sun lounger at the guest house swimming pool
  • Chat to owners Luc and Sue about eateries, sites and attractions in the region
